  • Founder

Charles Marmy is an environmental engineer and scientist, with a MSc in the field from EPFL, co-founder, Member of the Board and Expert in Circular Economy at Volutio.

Charles first worked several years as an engineer and project manager in an engineering consulting company in various fields such as landfill design, construction, operation and monitoring, water treatment, polluted sites remediation and mobility, with a strong focus on waste management. Most of the projects were in Switzerland, with some important activities taking place in Albania and Mongolia.

Charles then joined Empa as a scientist and project manager. Active in applied research projects in the fields of end-of-life vehicles recycling, urban mining and electric mobility, he supported various institutions, such as Swiss Federal Office of the Envrionement, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy or the European Commission in their efforts to foster Circular Economy. Charles was also involved in scientific communication by giving university courses and presentations at conferences and other events for different audiences. Moreover he was a member of the advisory board of the BATMAN project in Norway on material flows and life cycle of batteries for electric vehicles.

  • Design Director

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.

  • Dea holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences from ETH Zurich and a CAS in Resilient Supply Chain Management from EPFL. She has been working on assessment methods and performance evaluation in regards to circularity and environmental benefits and has been engaged in the development of the ISO Standard on the recovery of secondary materials. Furthermore, she has gained a deep understanding of waste systems, challenges and potential solutions during her work assignments for Empa, the World Economic Forum, UN-IETC and ISWA among others. As co-founder of Ecowork, a co-working facility for e-waste dismantling in India and a zero waste store in Switzerland she is familiar with challenges arising in the prevention and managing of wastes as well as business operations in various contexts. In her free time, you can find her planting fruit trees, sailing, hiking in the mountains or brewing cider.

  • After his studies at EPFL (BSc. in Environmental Engineering, MSc. in Energy Management and Sustainability), Andreas Bill joined Empa where he specialized in sustainable waste management with a strong focus on reycling systems. As an expert in electronic waste recycling, Andreas is part of the auditing team for Swiss electronic waste recyclers and provides consulting services in international projects regarding the development of national norms, setting up of conformity assessment schemes and evaluation of locally adapted solutions for problematic waste streams. During his time at empa, Andreas has also worked closely with the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment regarding the development of national waste indicators and the definition of the state of the art in e-waste recycling for Switzerland.
